Our Services

Skin Checks

Skin checks help detect some of the most common forms of skin cancer including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma as well as the most potentially harmful skin cancer, melanoma. We recommend annual skin checks at a minimum for those who have a prior history of skin cancer.

Mohs Micrographic Surgery

Mohs surgery is a specific form of surgical management of certain types of skin cancers.

While not needed for every form of skin cancer, it does offer specific advantages over traditional excisional surgery including:

  • complete removal of cancer during the visit
  • assessment of 100% of side (peripheral) & bottom (deep) margins
  • significantly reduces risk of cancer recurrence
  • smallest possible margins
  • ideal for high risk tumors or cosmetically sensitive areas

Mohs Surgery
What IS Mohs Surgery?
Mohs Micrographic Surgery is a highly specialized form of skin cancer treatment in which the skin cancer is actively "mapped out" and microscopically assessed during removal using the most detailed analysis possible. While not every type of skin cancer requires Mohs Surgery for management, Mohs Surgery has evolved as the "gold-standard treatment" for
  • complex skin cancers
  • skin cancers in cosmetically sensitive areas, like face, nose or ears
  • areas like the shin, hands & feet with little skin tissue to spare
With cure rates ranging on average from 95-99%, patients can feel assured that the skin cancer has little chance of recurrence.
In addition to having the highest possible cure rates, Dr. Lavigne's fellowship training in Mohs Surgery enables her to perform complex reconstructive surgery when indicated.  She takes great pride in providing patients the assurance that not only will the cancer be likely gone for good, and that every repair is performed to exacting detail with the goal to restore a patient's pre-cancer appearance.
While a Mohs Surgery visits can take anywhere from 2-4+ hours, patients can be confident upon leaving that the skin cancer is gone.
Mohs Surgery Consultations are available to help answer your questions and concerns.

Camden Dermatology & Mohs Surgery is pleased to note the expansion of our Mohs surgery capacity with the addition of Dr. Kimberly Huerth in mentorship with Dr. Lavigne.

If you have been diagnosed with a skin cancer, it is important to ask if Mohs Surgery is right for you.
