Dr. Huerth recently completed her dermatology residency at Howard University in Washington,
D.C., serving as chief resident during her final year. She looks forward to providing comprehensive care to the patients of CDMS including detailed exams for skin cancer management along with the treatment of a wide variety of other acute and chronic skin conditions. As a highly skilled procedural dermatologist, Dr. Huerth is adept at excisions of both benign or malignant lesions. We are particularly excited that she will augment CDMS’ offerings of cosmetic procedures including neuromodulators such as Botox, dermal fillers, chemical peels,
laser treatments and microneedling with platelet rich plasma.
A central desire in founding Camden Dermatology & Mohs Surgery 2.5 years ago was the ambition to expand dermatology care by recruiting highly trained and skilled dermatologists. The practice is thrilled to have Dr. Huerth joining us to assist in caring for the dermatologic needs of our community.
Dr. Huerth completed a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at Harvard University and attended medical school at SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. During residency, she cared for a diverse array of patients at Howard University Hospital, Washington
D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center as well as Children’s National Medical Center. In the fall of 2021 Dr. Huerth will be taking a one year hiatus in order to complete a prestigious American Society of Dermatologic Surgery accredited cosmetic dermatology fellowship. She is
thrilled at the opportunity to return the following year to CDMS with advanced training and expertise in a number of innovative and highly sought after cosmetic procedures. The practice has taken steps to ensure continuity of care during the time Dr. Huerth is away for fellowship by hiring an additional dermatology physician assistant, Jessica Hennen, who will be joining us this October.
Dr. Huerth noted, “As a native New Englander, it is a privilege to be able to practice in a part of Maine where the tremendous demand for dermatologic care surpasses the availability of highly-trained, board certified dermatologists. I hope that my joining CDMS enables more rapid access to both essential and elective skin care, which patients might have formerly waited months to receive.”
For the past three years, Dr. Huerth has served as an expert content contributor for Next Steps in Dermatology, an online resource for dermatology residents and early career dermatologists that focuses on cutting edge industry news, practice management tips, and career guidance.
She is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Mohs Surgery, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.
Dr. Huerth has presented her research at numerous regional and national conferences, and has published in several widely read, peer-reviewed dermatology journals. Dr. Huerth will also be performing Mohs surgery as a portion of her clinical work.
Dr. Lavigne observed that "Given the exceptionally high rates of skin cancer in our region, expanding our Mohs surgery capacity is important. Since I will continue providing general dermatology care to existing patients, Dr. Huerth and I have elected to enter into a mentorship arrangement. Building on the significant Mohs training experience she has acquired in residency, I believe we can offer the most comprehensive care possible to our patients.”
CDMS is currently accepting new referrals for Dr. Huerth who will begin caring for patients in the practice this month. We are pleased to note the expanded appointment times with her schedule which will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7am until 7pm.
